Trauma Informed Couples Therapy

IF YOUR RELATIONSHIP IS IN TROUBLE, DON'T WAIT TO GET HELP.

IN OUR WORK TOGETHER YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO BREAK OUT OF RELATIONSHIP PATTERNS THAT CREATE DISCONNECTION AND REDISCOVER THE EMOTIONAL CLOSENESS AND JOY THAT YOU USE TO SHARE.

What is Emotionally Focused Therapy?

EFT is a proven and effective method that help couples connect and rediscover intimacy, emotional closeness, and security. The founder of EFT, Sue Johnson, has done years of research that demonstrates the importance of using emotion as the vehicle of change. Couples get into unhealthy patterns of communication that can be difficult to break. It is very common to respond to emotional hurt in ways that leave both partners feeling even more hurt, criticized, withdrawn, and alone. Emotionally Focused Therapy uses years of science about adult love and intimacy to help couples understand and step out of these unhealthy cycles. EFT is a model of couples therapy that allows couples to:

  • Understand the patterns of communication that lead to increased blame, criticism, distance, and loneliness for both partners
  • Step out of their negative cycle so they can rebuild intimacy, responsiveness, and safety in their relationship
  • Learn new ways of reaching out that create emotional safety and increase passion

We integrate our expertise in treating childhood trauma with EFT therapy. This helps us target the roots of our client's challenges in creating and maintaining secure attatchment in adult relationships.
